Can’t Afford Hair Dye

During observation of one of the Pathlight classes, one of the students kept looking at my hair.
At the end of the lesson the same student came up to me and said ‘can’t afford black hair dye is it?’….oh dear, not a fan of blondes I gather!

A Principal Should Speak Proper English!

“Principal walking along corridor one afternoon after school hours met a Sec 4 students and as an informal greeting, she asked “ Going home?

Student replied : “ Oh, I thought a Principal should speak proper English ! My English teacher told me that short forms are not allowed . So you as Principal SHOULD NOT speak in short form!â€

Corrective Order Duties

A Secondary level student performing corrective order duties left a stack of unwashed plates at the café station to go home.

When chided, he argued, “You told me to wash till 3pm and it is now 3pm. You did not say I must finish the washing the plates!”

I Hope You Continue to Work Hard

When Pathlight finally appointed a principal, this was what one of its students wrote to the Supervisor (Board) who was hitherto acting Principal:

“Dear Ms Phua, last year you were Principal and Supervisor. This year, you are Supervisor. I hope you continue to work hard.”

What a BIG Visitor

Principal brought visitors on class tour at Pathlight.

Came to a class with more articulate students.

Class teacher encouraged students to practice their conversation skills and talk to the visitors.

One of the students started with the first lady visitor, ” Hello there. Wow, you are one of the biggest visitors we’ve ever had…”
