While driving past a hotel in Orchard Road, Kris commented, “mom, this is
the place where we went to for Mary’s party, right?”

Puzzled, I kept asking her questions on when was this luxurious birthday
party held by this mysterious Mary, who I can’t seem to remember at all.

“Remember? Me, you daddy and Ah Ma were also there…”

So Mary is a family friend? Why was Grandma at a child’s birthday party?

“There was also a woman dressed like a bride…”

Oh…. she meant “Marry” party….a wedding dinner lah!

Big brother came home with a long peacock’s feather after a school outing
to the zoo.

Kris wanted to hold it, but her brother refused saying that she would damage it.
But she continued to try and snatch it from him.

In frustration, Big Brother said sarcastically “Who has not seen a feather before!!”

Kris, totally missing the sarcastic tone, immediately put up her hand and
looked at her brother with hopeful eyes.

“Can I have the feather now?”

“Mom, when did global warming first start?”

Not feeling particularly intellectual, I said “I don’t know.”

After some thought, she came to her own conclusion.

“It must have been during the first global flood.”

“And when was that?” I asked.

“When God asked Noah to build the ark!”

I was explaining to my daughter why there is a need for laws in a country.

“… Unfortunately, it does not stop some people from committing crimes.
But, we hope they would think twice before they do anything bad.”

After thinking for a few moments, she said, “I understand now. So those
people in jail have already thought at least TWO TIMES!!”
